Nationally Recognized Expert on Kit Houses to Speak at Kensington Historical Society Meeting Open to the Public
What is a kit house and why was it so important to Kensington’s history? If you want to find out if your home was delivered in thousands of pieces in a boxcar, and then assembled on site, or you’re just interested in this fascinating history, join us for our next Kensington Historical Society (KHS) meeting. We are very pleased to welcome historian Kathryn Holt Springston, a nationally recognized expert on kit houses. Ms. Springston will tell us about this important industry, its place in our national history, and highlight many of Kensington’s houses including the Sears Houses and Gunnison Houses that were previously featured n the Kensington Historical Society’s 2007 Annual Calendar.
The meeting will be on April 2 at Kensington Town Hall, Lower Level. Light refreshments at 7 p.m. with the presentation starting at 7:30. If you’re not a KHS member and you’d like to be, we’d be happy to sign you up after the meeting.
