Our October Speaker is Montgomery Parks Senior Historian Jamie F. Kuhns, author of “Sharp Flashes of Lightning Come from Black Clouds: The Life of Josiah Henson.”
Josiah Henson is known as a preacher, freedom-seeker and Underground Railroad conductor, an author, and abolitionist. Rev. Henson was enslaved on a plantation just off Old Georgetown Road at what is now the Josiah Henson Park. He was the inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” He was baptized near KenGar.
