Gasoline Alley
Two rows of garages went up behind the firehouse, shortly after it was built. They were occupied by auto repair shops and several hot-rod clubs through the 1940s, 50s, and mid-60s. For a while the clubs were quite active with races through and near the alley. The strip is known locally as “Gasoline Alley,” and its shops continue to serve the community’s auto repair needs today.
