The Kensington Cabin Park

Kensington Cabin

The Kensington Cabin Park stretches along the parkway at the south end of town and has been enjoyed by local residents for decades for community picnics, family events and recreation. It includes tennis and basketball courts, a soccer/baseball field, play equipment, a log cabin and a large grassy area adjoining Silver Creek. It is owned by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The park’s log cabin, built in the early 1930s, served as a community center where generations of children attended summer camp. Funding cuts in 1992 forced the county to close the building. Recently, the Parks Department has begun to renovate the cabin for community use.
