10304 Kensington Parkway

Built at the end of the 19th century, the Queen Anne house at 10304 Kensington Parkway exhibits many features of that style. Its steeply pitched roof has an irregular shape and an unusual flared eave. The front-facing cutaway bay window is overhung by a bracketed roof gable. This dominant front gable has ornamental Stick style half-timbering. The differing wall textures of the house are a hallmark of the Queen Anne style. Note also the polygonal tower with alternating bands of clapboarding and fish-scale shingles, as well as varying sizes and shapes of windows. Delicate detailing decorates the front porch gable. The extensive L-shaped porch covers the front façade and is supported by heavy posts common to half-timbered houses.
