The other homes along Metropolitan were torn down to make way for more commercial buildings in the early 1960’s. Gradually the entire triangular property across the street changed from turn of the century residential (1900) to commercial.

As you walk up toward Connecticut Avenue the street widens to join Plyers Mill Road. As you stand at the intersection of Plyers Mill and Connecticut, try to imagine looking across a two lane road at the brand new fire station being dedicated in 1947.
